Recruiting the Board

As part of the incorporation process, a new Board of Trustees will need to be set up.

The shape of this and how recruitment is managed will be based on previous decisions about the preferred governance model, for example, the number of Trustees that are elected, nominated and appointed.

  • Nominated – these will be Trustees put forward by identified interest groups
  • Elected – these could be chosen by a membership or a clearly defined stakeholder constituency
  • Appointed – a role profile is drawn up and people are recruited to it through an open selection process

At the outset, it is unlikely that the new organisation will have an established membership able to elect Board members, therefore it is likely that most positions will be appointed through an open recruitment process.
